How Mozart Made Me Cry

First written by me on Wednesday  15/05/2024

Today, I listened to Mozart for the first time. Strangely, I felt motivated to do so while walking Barney, my dog. Usually, I gravitate towards much heavier music—bands like Foo Fighters, Kings of Leon, Muse and so on.

There was something about the very first note, the strike of the bow, that resonated deeply within my subconscious. It struck a chord that made me burst into tears. What followed was an intense period of focus, where I found myself frantically typing random notes and thoughts on my phone. On the bus ride to work, I rearranged them into this poem..

Symphony of the Soul

Written by Me

Tears from the dawn,

A celestial chord,

Uncontainable.

Each strike of a string,

A ripple through my essence.

Resonance,

A symphony within,

Eyes closed, worlds unfurl.

It’s overwhelming,

A universe beyond sight.

My nose betrays me,

Holding back the flood,

A dam against the deluge.

Cast off the veil,

Unmask the heart.

Surrender to the moment,

Be boundless.

Feel the ecstasy, the sublime.

Embrace the world's embrace.

The sun’s first kiss on earth’s cheek,

Dawn’s tender touch.

Absorb the radiance,

Feel its warm caress,

The thread that weaves us all.
